Clients can receive a charitable tax credit and feel good about helping the charities of their choice. In particular, the gifting of a life insurance policy can be an attractive option for clients as prospective donors. It’s also an important strategic charitable giving tool. In this presentation, we are going to outline five planned giving opportunities with life insurance.

L’automne dernier, des voix se sont élevées pour discuter de la possibilité d’augmenter le contingent des versements, montant minimum que les organismes de bienfaisance sont tenus de consacrer chaque année à des programmes qui leur permettent d’accomplir leur mission. Au centre de ce débat se trouvent les fondations publiques et privées et les dotations qu’elles détiennent en tant que source possible de fonds pour augmenter les dépenses de bienfaisance dans les collectivités canadiennes. En réponse à une consultation du gouvernement fédéral sur la question, l’ACPDP a présenté un mémoire officiel recommandant le recadrage de la discussion vers l’inclusion de donataires plus diversifiés et des prises de décisions fondées sur des données et des rapports meilleurs. Au cours de cette séance plénière, le comité des relations gouvernementales tiendra un panel sur le contingent des versements et nous fera part du point de vue de l’ACPDP ainsi que de celui d’autres parties intéressées au sujet de cette question provocante et polarisante

Deux ans plus tard, nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que nous nous rencontrerons à nouveau en personne lors de notre prochaine AGA en 2022 ! Nous vous invitons à vous joindre à nous à l’occasion du repas du midi et à vous replonger dans le climat d’effervescence de notre AGA pour la présentation des rapports de la présidente du conseil et de la PDG de l’association ainsi que des rapports financiers vérifiés de 2021, l’élection de nouveaux membres du conseil et la désignation de vérificateurs pour l’année suivante. Suivra également un bref rapport du président du conseil d’administration de la Fondation de l’ACPDP qui mettra en lumière les succès de la fondation et l’impact qu’elle a sur l’essor de la planification stratégique de dons au Canada. Pour être en mesure d’effectuer des changements transformateurs, il faut avoir une vision de l’endroit où nous voulons être, reconnaître l’endroit où nous sommes maintenant. Il faut aussi que les « pouvoirs en place » aient la volonté d’abandonner une part de leur autorité, de leur influence et des avantages dont ils jouissent pour permettre l’émergence de nouveaux dirigeants, de voix diverses et l’instauration d’une plus grande équité.

8.1 Bequests are Just the Beginning: Why Bequest Intentions are a Starting Point to a Beautiful Friendship

Receiving a bequest intention is sometimes viewed as the mountaintop gift. A bequest to charity means the donor loves you as much as their other loved ones, perhaps more, and is an invitation to deepen the relationship!

Donors may explore whether they can increase lifetime donations or consider donations of assets.
